I realised something this year. I am thirty years old and I have never been to a music festival. I really felt like this was a tragedy. I feel like I had missed out on a right for every young person in the land. I mean, I had done lots of other stuff. College ,Uni, backpacking in Thailand and learning a second language fluently, but I had not been to a music festival and it was really, really bothering me. I felt I had missed out. So I told my husband and he said he would arrange some tickets and all I had to do was turn up. Then I realised that if I really wanted to embrace this event 100 %, I needed to get the wardrobe spot on. So I started preparing. What were the fashion trends for listening to music whilst knee deep in rc air swimmers mud? I did not want to look too young, but I definitely needed to have the style to show the youngsters how it’s done. I started planning Air Swimmers my outfit from the top down. Currently, on a day to day basis, I wear my hair with a touch of 1940s glamour, but I wanted to strip that trend away for the festival. I wanted bohemian chic. I centre parted my hair and invested in one of those cutesy little plat head bands. I back combed the rest of my hair and I loved the look but thought it might be a little too bo-peep, so I needed to add some edge. The eyes have it. With a kohl eyeliner I made them dark, then darker and then darker again. I was loving this and really getting into the spirit of it. So now for the outfit. I glanced through some fashion magazines and had a look at outfits online. The women’s styles were quite varied from shorts to jeans, rock chic to flower fairy, but there was one fashion accessory which was a clear must have. And no, believe it or not, it wasn’t wellington boots.Bucking all the fashion trends of late, was the smallest incy wincy shoulder bag slung over music festival gear. I invested in one immediately. They are more fashion conscious than practical, but I love them all the same. Finally for the outfit. Footwear. Leopard print wellingtons and military styled ankle boots in grey. The boots were perfect, not only did they add a little rock chick to my outfit, but were ever so much more comfy and practical than trying to hoof around in huge heels. Pale grey opaque tights, which did have a skull pattern Remote Control Air Swimmer on them but you needed to be quite close up to see. Now for my dress. I adore the dress I bought for the festival and know I will be wearing it in 20 years time, if I can still fit in it. Multi pastel colours, layered with different fabrics. Its fabulous! In the evening I threw on a shaggy shrug to add some glamour ( and warmth) and stuck on a strip of glittery eyelashes to complete the look. It was all so much fun and I definitely will be going again.Hint hint.
